Do you have a budding artist?  If so, let their creativity flow with a poster contest promoting Turn Off the TV/Screen Week at Fireside.  All students are invited to make a poster and turn it in to the school office by 3:30 pm Tuesday, April 6.  Poster boards are provided.
Everyone who participates will have their poster displayed.  The purpose is to remind people that National Turn Off the TV/Screen Week is April 19-25.  Prizes are three $20 gift cards to Michael’s (arts and crafts) stores.  There will be one for first overall, one for the best in K-2 and another for the best in grades 3-5.
Entries will be evaluated on: 1) Creativity and 2) How clearly the poster sends the message that turning off the TV or computer screen for a week can be fun!
To participate, please:

  1. Get a small white poster board from the school office.
  2. Write your name and grade on the back of the poster board.
  3. Include the words “Turn Off the Screen Week” on your poster.
  4. Draw an example of a fun activity you plan to do instead of watching TV or playing on the computer. (Such as: swimming, reading, working on a puzzle, family time, etc.)
  5. Turn it in to the school office BEFORE 3:30 pm Tuesday, April 6th to be included.

We have lots of fun family activities planned for Turn Off the TV/Screen week, so stay "tuned" : )
